tune a must after full exhaust install??
Quik question..do you think I should/would benefit from a tune/dyno tune after getting a full exhaust install (headers to the tips)? and if anyone (im sure someone on here has) can explain to me what sandbagging is?

Re: tune a must after full exhaust install??
Sandbagging is letting off the gas while down the track. Either to fake a time or to not break out.
What year car??? Most likely you will be rich with a full exhaust set-up. 10-15 RWHP can be gained from a good dyno tune after bolt-ons. Depends on if you feel 10-15 RWHP is worth $500.

Re: tune a must after full exhaust install??
I paid $350 for a dyno tune, and man, it was worth every penny. I gained over 20whp with the tune on my car. With a full exhaust and a tune you'd be looking at roughly 350-360whp. It all depends on what exhaust you purchased (Please don't tell me it is a flowmaster).
If someone wants to charge you $500 for a tune, and the car is just basic bolt ons, my advise is to look elsewhere. The shop I went to offered me the deal, seeing as to how I don't have that many mods. If you have an automatic they can tune shift points, delete torque management, and key the card towards your preferences. All around though, i'd just wait until you bolt in a cam if you can afford to wait for it. The cam will bring out the real power in your car. Heck, you'll most likely see over 380whp with a full exhaust and a good cam along w/ a tune.

Most shops around here just charge a base fee for the first dyno tune. After that I think it gets cheaper.

Re: tune a must after full exhaust install??
Flowmaster is chambered, in order to give that deep exhaust tone. The chambers do give it a nice "rumble" but they restrict the exhaust from exiting. That is why people have seen lower dyno numbers with the exhaust on their car then some of the other exhausts systems.
I recommend a straight through design such as Magnaflow because it is cheaper then purchasing the similar Borla.

Re: tune a must after full exhaust install??
i was in ur place man. I dont think its a must but it cant hurt. I think ull have to tweak up the AF ratio casue LT's tend to run a lil rich. If he finds some1 with a laptop programer, couldnt they do it. Or do u have to strap it to a dyno??

Re: tune a must after full exhaust install??
Tune is not required.
But it will get the most out of your mods.
