Angry Damn this sucks!!!!

Now that my engine is complete and after i get my engine bay in tip top shape i will be dropping it in. But now the stunner is not to run your good turbo breaking in a new motor or freshly rebuilt because it will kill it. I have been looking all over for a real cheap 14b half blown or what not and cannot find one !!! So i was thinking of rigging up something to run one of my half blown T-25's i got laying around

Or should i stay away from that route and keep looking for a 14b or take the chance of killing my evo3 big 16g that only has 3k miles on it

Re: Damn this sucks!!!!

I think you should run a pos turbo so if it dies its no big deal, and if you have an extra one send it my way

Re: Damn this sucks!!!!

or you could add some in line oil filters to your set up. (not a bad idea any way) and I wouldn't worry about killing your new turbo. Make sure you change your oil really often for the next few months.

I've got a T25 that blows a little smoke under full boost and has a small bit of shaftplay I'd give to you. I also have a messed up 14b I'd give you too if you are interested. PM me for more details. They both have been sitting around for a few months on the garage floor but the T25 would be a great "break-the-motor-in" turbo if you blow it out a bit. Let me know soon because they happen to be at my FL home which I'm at for the week.

Re: Damn this sucks!!!!

I would recomend an Earls Inline Filter if you can afford the extra $40. The chaces of oil conitamination in the new Turbo is alot higher with a new engine. I, personaly, would install the t-25 you have for the first 500 miles. Reamber to change the oil every 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 miles. Its also been known you will get higher compression after seating the rings. So expect your Compression PSI to be a little low for the frst 1000 miles. I have also read that running the RPM's upto 7k and driving it like it's stolen from 250-500 miles will help raise the compresson a little higher then if you don't.
