Replacing Oxygen Sensor
Is there a trick to taking out the old sensor? I have the loaner socket set from autozone but I cannot get the old sensor to budge. There is limited space, but that sucker is in there; I cannot get it to break free. Should I buy that engine tilter that has been floating on this forum? Thanks.

Re: Replacing Oxygen Sensor
The engine tilter may help but the problem seems to be the issue of the getting the sensor loose. You may be forced to heat the manifold with a torch or take an actual wrench to remove it. These things can get very stuck and unfortunately the only way to get them out is with muscle power. You can also try a little PB blaster or other catalyst type penetrating oil around it in order to disolve some of the rust.

Re: Replacing Oxygen Sensor
Thanks for the help. I sprayed it down with Sea-Foam and then it broke free, eventually.

Re: Replacing Oxygen Sensor
the manifold needs to be hot when attempting to remove the sensor, the best way to do that would be to have the engine at full operating temp then shut it off....i know its cramped, but wear some light gloves and hope for the best...
this only applies for future reference...because you already got yours out! |
