Exclamation tranny prob may need flush?!!

..
almost seems like the tranny is going to go, are there any ways i can prevent it from going on me...it shifts hard...and when i left work today i pressed the gas pedal and it hardly did anything...seemed to slip or something, like it rev'd up but didn't move...and did this until the engine warmed up a little bit more...but still shifts hard, unless i let off the gas when im at the shift points...
got any ideas or knowledge on this issue...?
thanks!!!

With our '01, the hard shift problem was cured with the replacement of the PCM. Routine trans fluid changes won't cure the hard shift problem but it's good preventative maintenance (I do an ATF d&f once a year).

I'd recommend taking it to a good trans guy - maybe even a dealer - might be a PCS solenoid - if it needs a trans maybe I'd be interested in buying it from you.

Re: tranny prob may need flush?!!

what's the mileage? what's the general condition of the car? it would have to be cosmetically good, and with a good running engine. got pics? I'd have to look into how much to transport it to the chicago area.

Re: tranny prob may need flush?!!

well it has a little less than 85k on it...
is cosmetically ok...i had some damage to the front right corner...i replaced the fender myself ($200) and a new headlight($130) and something happened to the steering, i cant remember what but I got professional work done on that ($600)...havent painted the fender yet, no rust, i found some paint chipped off on the trunk lid which was kinda odd when i waxed it a couple weeks ago...nothing real big..size of a small bug..touch up... engine i think runs fine, i only say "i think," because; say im at a light and the engine may hesitate and then die, but if i put it in neutral its fine....so im guessing some sort of tranny problem?? unless u know?? it may have a misfire also, occurs every so often... i dont think im gonna try to sell it unless offer is un-refuseable! i may just fix it up! i will try to get some pics if you are still interested, and if estimate is right..

Re: tranny prob may need flush?!!

I probably couldn't give you what you want for that car, especially needing paint and stuff. I was looking for something where I could put in a trans and be good to go. Needing paint, it's probably worth about $3300 tops (KBB fair condition), maybe less - non-drivable, maybe half that.

I think I'd bite the bullet and have the transmission repaired by someone reputable - maybe even the dealer. Talk to the trans guy at your local dealer and see if he might want to do it 'on the side'.
