97 Civic EX Idleing High (Idle Screw Question)

I just have a question before I go tweaking the idle screw.

I recently had a problem with my radiator where it was cracked. I probably drove a week before I realized I was almost nearly out of antifreeze. No problems with overheating or anything... A few days before I discovered I had the leak, my car had to begun to idle at around 1500RPM, and then drop to around 1100-1200 or so when it would warm up. (I've replaced the radiator after this)

I don't want to go adjusting the idle screw and find out the reason it's idling so high was caused by some other problem later. Is there anything I should check first before adjusting the screw that could possibly be contributing to the high idle? I remember reading somewhere that someone had a similar problem, and was told to check their thermostat...

I just think it's odd the engine idles so high all of a sudden.

Thanks!

Fixed the problem. A vaccuum hose came loose.
