Re: just joined and need help badly

ok well that bring me to the next one a fuel pump has probally failed
the relay on the older ones are on firewall right at the brake booster normally 3 small black relays and the closest one to the driver's side is you but a fuel pump is probally your fix generally 40-80 bucks and a friend to help set the bed off is the easiest way I did mine in about 2 hours and it was about 6 months ago it just quick no warning at all drove it shut down 5 min later tried to crank and nothing

Re: just joined and need help badly

whoa whoa whoa. first off, either your dipstick TUBE is broke and the stick is sliding out of it somewhere not inside the engine, or the stick isn't for that truck, possibly outta something else.
Secondly, you should be able to hear your fuel pump run for a couple of seconds when you turn on the ignition. get someone else to turn the key on (not turn it over) while you are down by the gas tank, listening. If you don't hear it, run a jumper wire from the relay by the firewall, down to your battery. (negative post i think, you can try either post just not at the same time) If, after doing that, you still can't hear the fuel pump kick in, it's prolly time to drop your tank and change the pump.

Re: just joined and need help badly

Oh, I forgot; dump all the oil outta that engine and replace it with 4 1/2 - 5 litres, cause if you have too much in and that thing does start up, you are gonna blow seals outta that engine from too much oil pressure. I know a guy (who's far from a genius) who checked his oil once, he was down a litre, so he buys a gallon, thinking it was down a bottle of oil (i assume) he dumps in the whole gallon. Well he blew his seals, lost his oil, then his engine.

blowing out the seals is the lucky way to go, the crank slapping the oil airaids it, which can cause a lack of lubracating problem

Re: just joined and need help badly

yeah i put 41/2 qts in after i drained it. im gonna try to jump the relay as soon as i can of course its pouring rain outside right now . i just hope that is the pump i cant afford to replace that now. as for the dip stick i know this sounds wierd but it doesnt look thsame now that i look at it. i have no clue why some one would switch them but i did have it it the shop recently for a tune up. maybe they lost mine and stuck another in? i know it sounds far fetched but it does seem a bit short for my engine, and i have checked my oil before obviously w/out there being a prob. I am a bit distrustfull of shops thats why i always fix my own stuff if possible. Not to mention im poor and it ended up costing me a few hundred for new plug rotor, cap, and wires, plus it took them a week almost. but it was too cold outside and i dont have a garage so i had to let them due it .

Well .... I think everyone deserves a big "DUH" for not thinking about the obvious dip-stick length. I know I do .....

Hey, in my second response (#9) I mentioned that the dipstick might be broken.

Doesn't that count for something
LOL

Re: just joined and need help badly

also i'm curious as to how blowing your seals is the lucky way to go. (dmbrisket 51's post # 19 ) if you blow your seals and not catch it right away, you are gonna lose most if not all your oil and seize the engine. what else could possibly happen, as a result of too much oil in the engine, that would be worse than that?
