99' Passat Warning lights no tach

The parking light flashes, the oil light comes on, the air bag light comes on and the tachometer dies. It will come and go now it is doing it most of the time. If anybody has any good ideas let me know. I read it with a OBD II eader a week ago and got no codes. Thanks

sounds like your instrument cluster is bad. since all those things are happening at once

what about ABS light? If it's also flashing it means that your ABS module is bad.

your abs module can be bad, but if the cluster is not communicating with the abs module because the cluster is bad than it will set a code in the abs module for no comm with cluster. Easy way to check is with car running, wiggle the electrical connector on the abs module (next to washer fluid resivour) and listen for any clicking noises and see if the abs light goes out. If it does than replace the abs module. (about 650.00 now)

Re: 99' Passat Warning lights no tach

99 Passat tach quits ..ABS lights up, oil pressure indicator lights up. car runs fine still. If tach begins to work, then all indicators turn off and car is perfect. Only until tach quits again then signals and indicators all start up ..Can anyone help a dealer shy backyard mechanic? ABS modual or instrument cluster???

Re: 99' Passat Warning lights no tach

I have this problem for a year tach do not work, abs lights up and warning light blinking at the same time. I don't have ABS but my brakes are working. You can go on e-bay there is a guy who fix modules for $250 US and there are statements of people who had the same symptoms. Module fixed and all lights are gone. And do not worry car will be runnig without any problems. Just no ABS and ASR.
This is my opinion but it's of course good to check before spend this amount of money.

Re: 99' Passat Warning lights no tach

I would change the cluster it is fairly simple and can be done in about 20mins. The clusters are on ebay and can be had for about $100 shippied. With lifetime warrenty. I have the same issue, my ABS light comes on and off, and my check engine light is on I have no tach and no MPH working, I should have it in about one week. Ill keep u posted

Re: 99' Passat Warning lights no tach

I jumped pins 19 and 21, and abs/break lights went out and breaks work much better now. Those pins if voltage is high will cause the fault, so put it to 0 and fault should go away. At least could try it.

They are in the connector for the abs module, #s are on the connector. Lights will go out, break appear to work as should, and no abs.
