Stroker Kit Driving Me Crazy !!!!

HELP PLEASE !!!!!!! ... Ok so my motor is out apart bored, milled, honed, hot tanked ... all my parts are in for this 2.3 stroker im doing. AND I CAME TO A HALT! The wiseco pistons which are the Evo 8 Pistons with an .20 Overbore have 5 piston rings and 1 oil rail ring for a total of 6 rings per piston. The pistons came with no instructions and the stock pistons have far less rings. I do not know how to assemble these pistons. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!

What the hell are you asking? First off, I dont know if the Evo pistons work in our cars, SBR has different part numbers for them so I dont think they will. Who cares how many the stock piston has compared to the aftermarket? Do you not know how to put rings on? Honestly dude, if you get fucked up over putting piston rings on you shouldnt be rebuilding your engine.

The number of rings should have no effect on them as long as the pistons bolt up to the rods... What was the compression for those pistons?

The Evo strokers on SBR are 9.0:1 while the DSM ones are 8.8:1. I'd be worried about the pistons hitting the head or coming out the bottom of the cylinder (or a piston ring).

Weisco has diffrent part #'s for the evo 46g3 & the DSM 4g63.

You need to post pictures cause I have never seen a gasoline piston have more that 3 ring grooves.

The most rings there should be is 5. 1 ring goes on the top groove, 1 ring goes in the middle groove and 3 rings go in the bottom groove.

Why are you running Evo pistons in your Eclipse? I hope you didn't buy an Evo stroker kit instead of an Eclipse kit. And also, shrink down your sig pic, it's enormous.

ok well ... im pretty sure i firgured it out last night. i called wiseco and the guy talked to me and said there was no diagram but he could explain it to me. well... my original problem was there was 3 piston grooves and 6 rings. No the 7-bolt Eclipse stroker kit i bought came with Wiseco Evo 8 pistons .20 over. Well when i called wiseco he explained to me that the only difference between the top and 2nd ring is that the top ring was seven thousandths smaller. Found those and set them at opposing gaps. next in the third gap i put in OIL RAIL-SPRING EXPAINDER-OIL RAIL. Now i had one ring left. The last ring was the OIL RAIL SUPPORT. This went UNDERNEATH the oilrail and spring expander sandwich. The support should be the VERY LAST RING i was told. So last night, me and my buddies got the wholt bottom end put togethor. But yes the pistons ARE evo 8 pistons from WISECO. It says it right on the box. They came in my 7bolt Eclipse 4g63 Stroker kit. When i called wiseco, the guy seemed to know his dsm's and said this should work.

OK ... i just got off the phone with wiseco and figured out the EVO 8 .. Eclipse dilema. The reason why my piston box says evo8 all through it on everything is because the pistons use the same piston rings and same layout. they both use the 8500xx kit. As stated before you guys where all right , my piston numbers do match with the 7bolt Eclipse kit and I have the 8:8:1 compression, not the 9:0:1.

Actually, without a diagram it would be hard to figure out the piston rings for the pistons. Each one has a specific place it goes on the piston. When I got my pistons my only saving grace was that the guys from the shop had gapped and labeled my rings in order.

They each have a certain place and a certain way to go in (one side specifically goes up). I would probably fuck it up without some sort of listing or diagram.

ok this is probably my last post on this thread, but i thought i would post it to help people out in the future. Turns out that the EVO Stroker pistons and Eclipse Stroker Pistons from wiseco are IDENTICAL and even have the same part number. Ok, but remember, the valve pockets are opposite on the Evo pistons from the DSM pistons (even says so in the thing you copied). Not sure if it really matters, but when you are dumping several grand into an engine, I wouldnt take a chance.
