2g head on a 6bolt block?

Well, I typed that exactly in the search, and found nothing, unless im blind. But what I was thinking is that I dont wanna use my 7bolt motor because of CW chances for a rebuild and especially having a goal of about 400whp, a 6 bolt sounds better. But my question was does a 2g head flow worse then a 1g head would, I wanna reuse my head because its in decent shape, but I dont know what I would have to do or if it is even possible. Thanks

Yes you can use a 2g head in a 6bolt -

you willl have to open the headbolt holes 1mm -

A 2g head will give you better low-end power while a 1g will give
you hi-end gains.
It basicly depends on were you want the power gain to be.
(off the line or top end)


stock to stock a 1g head+intake+t/b flows more then a 2g head+intake+t/b

ported to ported - a 2g ported head is better.

THere was a guy over at team2G.com who used a 7 bolt on a 6 bolt. He said he wished he hadent, I do not know what is wrong though

I'd sell off the 2g head and just put on a 1g. IIRC the 1g flows like 2 lbs/min more stock than the 2g head.
