Howl sound from front?

Just recently my jeep has been making a loud howl front end. When i hit about 20mph it starts to get louder. The same happends when i get onto the highway as well, and if i take my foot of the gas it is still loud. I dont know much about the front ends on jeeps so anything will help. Thanks.

Re: Howl sound from front?

I have a 99 GC and mine did it also.Ended up being front wheel bearings were shot.Replaced them and it took care of the front end noise.

Re: Howl sound from front?

Ya BenBB could be the front wheel bearings or the diff bearings. From the what you are saying, with the lower speed start for the noise, it's more likely a pinion bearing than the carrier bearings. Wheel bearings and carrier bearings usually make noise at higher MPH and the pinion bearings at lower MPH because of different rotating speeds. Could also be a front drive shaft problem or a front output bearing in the t-case.....

Sounds like it's time for a front end teardown/inspection and oil change.
