Re: Privateer Peugeot 307 WRC Decals?

Just been trolling the Renaissance site and in their future releases is Gardemiester's Monte 2006 car - the ASTRA one. They also are doing a transkit for the 307. Some interesting other future releases as well. RS200 & Peugeot 405 Pikes Peak as kits. Hhhmmm credit card watch out.

Dunno, but I'd hope so. It's very cool in yellow and red.

Re: Privateer Peugeot 307 WRC Decals?

Years ago I saw a company sold a basic NASCAR kit with aftermarket decals in the box, for a little more than the price of a regular kit (A Ford Thunderbird and the Mark Martin Winn Dixie decals to be specific). I'm surprised nobody has tried this, buying just the plastic from Tamiya and throwing in an aftermarket decal set and other parts.

If they priced it even a little below what it costs to sell the kit and the decals, they'd probably do more business, and gaurantee themselves a bigger piece of the pie, since people won't necessarily buy the decals AND the kit from them.

As is happening with the new Model King releases, model companies will do pretty much anything you want if you buy enough of them up front (Over the past 2 years Model King has commissioned I believe AMT to pull some of their old dirt-track and dragster molds out of storage and make them slew of different models. If you buy enough of them to make it worth their time, they will do it, since they aren't affected by what happens to them after you take delivery).

Re: Privateer Peugeot 307 WRC Decals?

They do look great don't they.
I notice Renaissance have the colours on the BF Goodrich tyre decals reversed for some weird reason. On the plus side, those pics do have the "Bozian Racing" decals for the seat that Studio 27 missed. I've got the S27 Solberg sheet and it looks superb, but I guess I'll have to get the Renaissance one too to fill out some small details.

Re: Privateer Peugeot 307 WRC Decals?

Studio 27's Astra team car from Monte is now available. The Stobart Focus is coming.

Just one thing Phil, PLEASE paint Hennig's car orange and not that red colour Rennaisance have in their pics.

Re: Privateer Peugeot 307 WRC Decals?

Actually picking the right shade of orange is something I'm a bit worried about. The picture of the Renaissance build up does look too red, but it would be easy to err the other way too. Probably pay to start off with a lighter coat of paint then darken further coats if necessary.

Aim for that (of course, a lot depends on monitor settings and your perception, but that's true in most cases anyway).

I would work off the orange in the decal "star" on the door.

I don't know if you have seen this photo.

Re: Privateer Peugeot 307 WRC Decals?

Ah so that is the basis of the orange, thanks Alex.

Thanks too Mal. S27 cunningly leave the orange on the expert star clear so it will take the body colour. I'll go for something a bit darker that the orange on the "EnPro" logo. I was going to use Modeler's Orange, but am now leaning towards GSI Creos Orange, which is a bit lighter.
