When you remove the old filter, the o-ring can get stuck inside the tranny. Make sure to remove it before reinstalling the new filter. Also lube the new o-ring with tranny fluid before reinstalling. A tranny gasket should be reinstalled dry (no gasket cement). I also installed a drain plug to make changing the filter easier. //2000CAYukon |

The other possible issue if over tightening the pan bolts. It can cause a bad seal. First thing to check if any of the bolts are loose. //2000CAYukon |

Re: tranny fluid change
Give a close inspection to the bolt holes. The area between them should be flat on the table (or flat surface used) If there is a gap then that is a sign that the bolts may have been over tightened. It will leak every time...

Re: tranny fluid change
well havent droped the pan yet...but, last night as i was looking at it again...with the dust shield off ...there was fluid onthe torque converter..and it looks like its leaking from where the converter meets the tranny..my buddy said there is a bushing there and it could go out...is this bushing fairly easy to replace?...and could this be my problem...?

Re: tranny fluid change
No it is not easy.
You have to remove transmission and transfer case. And pull the front pump out of transmmission. How good is the rest of the transmission? If you remove transmission and front pump you are half way into a transmission rebuilt. If the front pump bushing is bad I am sure there is other problems there to like pump worn out and converter shaft bad. Just replacing the pump bushing and front seal may like a band aid fix. MT

But if it is leaking fluid at the front pump seal it is usually more trouble than just front seal or bushing. To replace the front pump bushing you have to remove the front pump from transmission and check thing out. A ammco rebuild a 1-1/2 years ago is not very good news or does not say much for it. Look things over real good when you have the front pump out. Pull the pan and see what is in the bottom of the oil pan. Is the transmission working good outside of the leak? If just leak at front seal pull the front seal and peak in there at the bushing. If the bushing is bad you may have other problems to. If you are lucky and bushing is good May just be a bad seal. Good Luck MT
