What years for '83 amber lens?
I broke the right front amber turn signal lens on my son's '83.
Can anyone tell me if they were changed any through the years or if one from any year will be the same?

Re: What years for '83 amber lens?
Are you talking of the light in the bumper or the light on the fender?
The fender lights were the same from '80-'85. The turn signal light on the bumper is the same from '80-'90, but the amber versions were export-only, the domestic versions all being clear (with amber bulb).

Re: What years for '83 amber lens?
It's the amber one on the fender. I checked the local salvage yard and, believe it or not, they have no cars from the 80s except Corvettes. I also need a few interior trim pieces.
Anyone know of any mail-order or online vendors where I might find parts?

Re: What years for '83 amber lens?
Try:
U&I autoparts (909) 888-6841 or [email protected] the contact is Rich M. He's got an ad in Hemmings Motor News. I ordered a p/w regulator for my 77 4dr from this guy about a month ago, price was good and quick turn around. e-mailed me back the first business day, I paid for the part and it arrived 6 days. BTW silicon212 my 80 caprice, my dad bought it new, had the amber lens with clear bulbs in the bumper. That's how it came from the factory. |

Thanks, I e-mailed him. Hope it pans out - I hate to have to buy a whole car just to get a few parts!!

I think I have a used one in the attic.
Don't know if the dealer still offers them new, but if so, they probably won't be cheap. |

Re: What years for '83 amber lens?
Thanks TommySS - I got one this AM through a local body shop before I saw your post. I hope I don't need yours, but keep track of where it is as someone will! Seems to be tuff to find some of these parts unless you can find the car to take them off of. None of our local salvage yards keep any cars that old, except real collector stuff.
BZR77CHEVY - thanks for the tip on Rich. He didn't have the lens or rubber bumper strips I need, but did have the some door pull end covers which I thought might be the most diffucult to come by.

Re: What years for '83 amber lens?
The supply of decent B-bodies is dwindling fast. Service parts are still plentiful, but trim is gonna be harder to get until restoration parts makers get crackin.
Glad you were able to source a lens. Let us know if you need additional help. |
