Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007
I still don't see how people can label any brand as "American" or "Japanese" or "European" anymore. Ford has a large car market not only in Europe, but in Australia as well. GM also has its own division down under, markets Cadillacs in Europe, and owns a Swedish automaker. Chrysler isn't even Chrysler anymore, it's Daimler-Chrysler. It's just as much European as it is American. As far as calling Toyota a "Japanese" car company, that's true, as far as the fact that Toyota originated in Japan, and has a Japanese car division. Fact of the matter is, the Camry is built in America, by American workers, and its part content is largely American as well. Most of Toyota's American market cars and trucks are similar in this regard, and are so far removed from their Japanese counterparts that you could hardly consider Toyota of Japan and Toyota of America the same brand anymore. The bottom line is that the Toyota that we have here is NO less American than Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge.
This country-based brand loyalty has to stop.

Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007
So a Toyota Camry is no less American than the new Corvette Z06, or the new Dodge Viper (which is hand-built in Detroit), or the new Mustang?

Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007
Personally, I think if pride is what is involved here, then the attitude should be "bring them all on, we'll kick their butts" instead of "it's our little club, we don't want your kind here".

Re: Toyota Camrys to race in 2007
If I may deposit
![]() A- Toyota has seem to do just fine in the Truck series after everybody got in uproar then. B- Honestly, I see the introduction of Toyota in the Cup series as a way for Dodge to sneak out the back door without anyone noticing. I don't know, all the problems and "expeiriments" by teams with the '04 Intreped vs. the Charger, teams not being confident with what they have, just seems like a WWE storyline to me, so obvious. C- As for "all American", what happened to the "all American past time game" of baseball. Half the players out there now are foreign? |
