Tie Rod Install
I got some JIC Magic Tie Rod Inners as a christmas present a while back and haven't gotten around to installing them b/c I was going to get the outers also. Now that I don't really care I'm just going to install them anyways...I've been reading the 240sx and 180sx fsm's and they do a really bad job at explaining how to deinstall and install them...
Can anyone point me in the direction of a tech article or something similar (mabye simplified instructions?) Thanks |

Re: Tie Rod Install
no instructions??? My cusco ones have instructions but there all japanese. But i can make manage because they show pics and have measurements of how far things should be set. Jack up the car and look at it, i think you can probably just figure it out. Adjust everything to the same length as the current stock, then get an alignment.

Re: Tie Rod Install
^ ditto thoughts.
it's adjustable... so just screw in/out the length you want. Preferably more than stock so you get more angle in drifts... (assuming you are drifting since there's no other reason to get tie rods)

Re: Tie Rod Install
seriously though, i know you can figure it out just by looking at the piece on the car. You just measure it up the same length as the stocker. Leave some play to screw in and out so there is adjustment room(the point of having the rod to begin with). Keep an even amount of thread on each side. I have no scanner. But i know you could figure it out by looking at your piece, then looking at how the stock one is installed. If not any place could install it for you.
look on spl parts for some installs.....usually stuff like this is all the same regardless of manufacturer. thats how you install. http://splparts.com/doc/SPLTieRodEnd/default.htm

Re: Tie Rod Install
thanks a lot, i was just confused b/c it said you had to put grease and sealant on some places and I was like wtf, also it said you had to tq things up to a specific nm and i have no idea how you would get a tq wrench to do that...
