how to test 95 Oldsmobile 88 cam and crank sensor
how can i test a cam and crank sensor for a 95 oldsmobile 88? This car won't start. I've changed the ignition control module, that didn't fix it. It has good compression on all cylinders and it has plenty of fuel presure. In fact fuel is getting onto the spark plugs.
Can you please help? Thanks, pompano |

Got spark at all the plugs? Any rpm reading when cranking and no start on a scanner, what is the fuel pressure?

Re: how to test 95 Oldsmobile 88 cam and crank sensor
I don't have a scanner. The fuel pressure is 50 lbs. unregulated or deadhead pressure. Key on, engine off, not running. I haven't checked spark on every single spark plug. It is an OBD1, what two terminals on an OBD1 do you ground to get codes? Will a bad cam or crank sensor set a trouble code? While cranking it pops out the exhaust almost like it's out of time. But I have 160 to 180 lbs of compression on every cylinder. Any help would be apprececiated.

I believe its the top right two terminals to get codes on an OBD1.

Not for sure, but it sounds like it jumped time. I just did one that the teeth had stripped off of the timing cam gear, and it had the popping sound you described.
