FZR600 transmission noise

I have a 96 FZR600 and 2nd gear is making a high pitched whine. I can take off in first and it is fine I can shift into 2nd and it makes just a little noise but if I back off the gas it gets pretty loud. I can clutch it and it doesn't really change. I can pull the clutch and shift through the gears while it is rolling and all the gears are fine except 2nd. I was just wondering how critical it might be. I have a complete spare running motor ready to go in if I have to.

And also I was wondering if anyone could tell me how dependable, fast, etc, of a bike this thing might be. I just recently bought 2 of these things for $1300. I had to build 1 out of 2 and have a sh**load of good parts left. Kind of curious of how it will compare to my cbrF3 I just wrecked.

Re: FZR600 transmission noise

I imagine the FZR6 will probably be fairly similar to your F3. Keep in mind the FZR is the "tamer" of Yamaha's sport 600s for that era, as opposed to the YZF6. I know the FZR shared a fair number of parts with my 94 Seca II. The people I know who had the FZR either loved it or hated it, so I can't help you with anyone's first-hand experience.
