After quite a few months of saving...
Well, I am finally starting a project on my car worth mentioning.
I'll tell the story of my car if anybody cares why i am doing this (im told its not worth even 1/4 of the money im spending and should just go buy a Z32) Last summer i bought an 85 z31 turbo off of a guy i pumped gas for at work. ( i worked at an esso). i bought the car for 1800$ CDN. Well i wasnt thinking about the state of the car, it looked to be in good shape, ran well, i couldnt complain. He said he was going to work on the oil rigs so he needed to sell it now. Took it for a test drive, fell in love. The highway home is like 100 miles of strait, flat, fresh paved road, and i dont think i have ever had so much fun before. About a week after, i started to have problems. Engine missfires under load, poor fuel pressure. After i spent 3 grand on repairs and labour the CEL light and the sensor light still didnt turn off, so i took it back in. MAF, exhaust 02 (i think) sensor replaced, 700 bux. Sensor light still wouldnt turn off, but the car ran well. then another 1500$ on welding for a small hole in the sub frame. After this was done it snowed and i wasnt able to drive it at all. 6 weeks ago i took it out and started it, went inside to grab the plate, when i came back outside, i heard a pop and saw steam . Turns out an old hose blew out on me. that pissed me off and i spent 120$ on a cab to and from work. so i ordered the hose from vic british, and i got the wrong one. I went to nissan, ordered the same thing, it was the wrong one. took me 1 week, and 15 peices of hose to find 1 bloody hose. finally got the hose in, car wouldnt start. no crank nothing. took it in for a diagnostic, and my distributor assemby is toast somehow. sourced on out for 640$ cheapest.I dont make much money as i am a student, and work at a gas station for 10$ an hour. Im sick of spending money on that engine, its old and tired. 180, XXX on it. So im ordering a VG30DETT for it and swapping it out. I am having the garage do the fabrication required to drop in the engine, seeing as how i dont have the tools to do it, and my friends dad has a garage (with a dyno <3) and is willing to help me with everything else. Well, that was alot of typing, but just thought i would share my project with you guys, and a little history of my car. And as i said i know its not going to be worth it financially, but its the first car ive had that has turned heads, and i have been truly proud of, so its worth it to me. ^_^ For anybody interested in this aswell i'll be recording every step, with pictures and stuff, and will most likley post it after. If anybody has any information that they feel could help with this feel free to email me. I know i have a mechanic helping me but this is a first for me and would like to do as much of it myself as i can. My email is [email protected] Also feel free to email me if you are interested in the engine. After i pull it out ill look at it and see if anything else is wrong with it aside from the distrib assembly. i post about it later. |

Re: After quite a few months of saving...
Mike_Man was doing a TT engine swap into his Z31, bit of a different situation but same type of block and same type of chassis as your swap.
Anyway, good luck on the swap, if nothing else you'll gain quite a bit of power just going from the T to the TT. Sucks that you had to pour all that money into it though, if there is any parts you can salvage then you might get some money for them on Ebay or where ever.
