'97 Sunfire AC Vibrates!!!!!

I bought a '97 sunfire from an old lady. She told me that she had refill freon but it didn't last long, she thinks it didn't have enough freon. At the shop, they want to charge me of minimum of $120 fill freon. To save some $$$ I decided to do it myself which is something that I haven't done before. Anyway, per instruction. I checked the level it was totally empty. I filled it up unitl it rich the the center of the green zone (filled). But then, everytime I turn my AC it vibrates and makes a loud noise. The more I accelerate the louder it gets. Is there anyone knows what went wrong?

Re: '97 Sunfire AC Vibrates!!!!!

Chances are your A/C compressor is no good. Especially if your system is not holding freon (either bad compressor or a hole in one of the lines). I would suggest taking it in and having the system vaccum tested to see where the freon is leaking from and have it repaired. not something I would be refilling and letting leak into the air (not environmentally friendly).
