Hello all, new to the forums.
I have a 2005 Kia Sedona with about 16,800 miles. Today while driving my wife heard a single click as we accelerated from a stop light. At the next light I heard it. At a third light I noted that the single click happened between 25 and 28 miles per hour. This trend repeated. Suddenly, as I was accelerating at a light, the "Check Engine" light came on, then the engine would rev, but would not go forward. I had enough speed to coast into a parking lot. I shut off the engine, turned it back on, and could rev the engine while in gear, but it would not move forward. I called the Kia roadside and got a tow to the dealership where we bought the van. I noted that the tow truck driver was able to back the van onto the flatbed. So, the transmission worked in reverse, but not forward. ![]() I would appreciate any insight as to what may have caused this or what the solution might be. Thank you. Kia Sedona - 16800 miles, 8 months old, all required maintenance has been performed. |

Re: "Check Engine" - Transmission Question
internal transmission failure, i would think it would be under warranty still. just tow it to the dealer, more than likely they will replace the trans and youll be driving again. its hard to say exactly what went wrong, but if its under warranty dont worry about it.

Re: "Check Engine" - Transmission Question
Just got back from the dealership. They replaced the shift sensors to no avail. They are going to replace the tranny. Thanks.
