Check Engine Light Blinking
I have a 2002 Venture, 3.0l with 67000 kms on the odometer. Recently, the check engine light blinks when I drive the van under the following conditions:
1. High noon..around 30 - 35 deg C outside 2. Uphill climb 3. Speed of 100 km/h After several seconds, the blinking check engine light disappears. I don't have any noticeable rought idling nor lost of power from the van. And I checked the user manual and it says that a blinking check engine light might indicate a misfire. I am planning to take it to the dealer here in the Philippines but would like to know first what are the possible causes. I was very much disappointed with the performance of the dealer here in my recent visits. Unfortunatelty, there are no autozones here who will offer free code reading. |

Re: Check Engine Light Blinking
sounds like misfire under load to me, but i am no expert.
i wonder if you have bad gas or something? perhaps adding a fuel additive (octane boost or something) might cure the problem. |

Re: Check Engine Light Blinking
A blinking check engine light means the computer has detected a severe engine misfire. This is something that needs to be looked at asap because you can quickly destroy your cat converter and possibly ignite unburnt fuel in the exhaust. It could be just a relly out of tune engine that needs new plugs, wires, etc, or it could be a sign of something much more serious like head gasket or such.

Re: Check Engine Light Blinking
My 00 Venture had the same problem. It was the coil packs.
