codes
alright i ran codes on my car and i got code 13,21,and 24.
13-O2 sensor. 21-TPS 24-VSS i replaced my O2 sensor less than a month ago so i dont know why that code comes up. i had a new(refurbished QJET) carb installed a month ago also so wouldnt a new TPS be installed inside it already? when i am cranking the car it makes this buzzing sound from behind the speedo cluster but it turns off when the car starts.would that have to do with the Vehicle speed sensor? whenever i start the car i have to rev it up about 2 times to a certain RPM for it to idle right and if i dont do that and drive it,it will hesitate real bad and sometimes die.i have a stock, origional cat conv. on it and when i rev it it makes a fast, rattling sound until down-rev.maybe a heat shield?well i dont know im stumped could anyone help me out. 1988 caprice classic brghm ls V8 305 H 4 bbl. vacuum lines are ok. points on cap are fine.new ig. coil and rotor and cap. new fuel filter |

I've had a TPS fail on a new carb two days after it was installed, so it's within the realm of possibility that this is what happened to you. Check your wires, and check your wiring harness for any chafing or scraping that could cause some of the wires (such as your oxy. sensor, TPS etc) to short to ground or eachother. If this does happen or has happened, chances are good that you'll be needing a new ECM. The VSS is mounted directly to the back of the speedometer. I'm not sure what can cause it to "buzz" as it's generally an IR sensor and emitter that reads through a slot on a wheel on the back of the speedo. It's solid state. Does your speedometer work? Also keep in mind that a Code 13 can be generated by something other than the EGO sensor, so check everything.
