Lower or Kit?

With enough money, what would be worth doing first.... lowering my Cavi, or adding a body kit? I was leaning toward lowering it, but then I would have to make sure I could fit on a body kit later. Also, is it worth lowering it? My Cavi only has about 31000 miles on it, so I plan on keeping it awhile, and putting some money into it. Open to all opinions. (Or suggestions about what else to get instead of lowering or kit.)

Re: Lower or Kit?

Personally I kitted mine and said neds to lowering just to be different. These days it seems like any two bit crack pot that can either put some springs on or knows how to cut them has their car lowered and they think they are hot shit.

Frankly if there ever comes a time I see too many people rolling around with the same kit as me it will be time to move on to something different.

Lowering or going with a kit isnt something that can be played into effect by just asking a bunch of guys what they think. It all really counts on what you as the owner/driver thinks and what you tastes are.

You can get 50,000 opinions on the matter but at the end of the day it all comes down to what you think and what you are going to be happy with.

Re: Lower or Kit?

well lowering it will give u better handeling and make it look better no questions asked....morons who cut their springs dont last long at all...and when u turn a corner at 80 instead of 50 ul b happy you lowered your car...plus its usually cheaper for a set of coilovers and struts vs body kit + shipping..i say lower it

Re: Lower or Kit?

YOu should be able to get a quality suspension from 600-900 bucks. I have the Eibach prokit and KYB AGX struts. Mine ran me after needed all new dust covers and what not $790. I just ordered my other body kit last night and new Prothane control arm bushings. $980.25 shipped to my door. BTW, the body kit is Urethane thus such a high price.

... wow i have spent alot of money this spring...

$500 CF hood and fenders
$785 new 18x8 wheels
$945.25 body kit
$519 Header, hi-flo cat, Nology hotwires, MSD coils
$260.95 Umm... new head lights.

Wow... $3010.20 Jesus..

And i still have money left over. Guess i will have to work on spending that too...

ps.. being single is great!

Re: Lower or Kit?

I think a lowered stock ride looks more aggressive than just a kit. But like PsychoJJ said, it's all about what you want. If you are just wanting looks and don't care about handling get a kit.

If you do lower it to DO IT RIGHT!!! Don't get one of your friends to yank out your springs and cut 'em, you'll regret it. You can't just buy lowering springs either, you need new struts to handle the extra abuse...

I'd bet CRJ's ride is as comfortable as stock on bumps, sticks to the road like glue, and has half the body roll of a stock cavy.

Re: Lower or Kit?

I figured I'd post the obvious. You should look around in your area and surrounding communities to see what the roads are like. I don't have any experience in this field, but wouldn't having a lowered car suck if there were potholes, speed bumps, dirt and gravel roads anywhere? Of course you wouldn't have to worry if your car was purely for show purposes.
