valve adjustment
Hello to all,
I have an 89' Toyota Camary and was wondering if and how many miles do I drive before the valves need adjustment if any. I had thought it was every 30K BUT I was told my 4 cylinder doesn't need adjustment. Is this right? rimfire,22 |

They usually do not require adjustment - especially if the oil has been changed regularly. To adjust you need to replace shims after checking with a micrometer to compensate accordingly. |

Re: valve adjustment
IMO, if you haven't done head work that would affect the valve clearances, or you don't hear them, don't worry about adjusting the valve clearances.

Re: valve adjustment
My old 4cyl 89 Camry ran 223K miles without valve adjustments.
