Heated, power right hand side mirror question?

I recently purchased a replacement black, heated, power right hand side mirror for my 1998 Infiniti I30t. The mechanic has already installed in on the car.
My question is the looking from the front of the car at the mirror, there is a gap between the shiny round black part and the flat black . I am concerned that water might get in and damage the motor and heating element. I would have sent a picture but there is no attachment for this forum.

Block (?) the gap with silicone. ... Pics have to be uploaded on a server, lots free space available like cardomain.com. Then this pic 'gets an address', to be here referenced between [img][/img] -marks... This way smbdy reading this forum retrieves the pic from the cardomain server, no traffick load on this forum.
U may reference just any pic available in the net...

Re: Heated, power right hand side mirror question?

Seems like the new part is not fitting, shrunk and/or warped. How is the driver side, no gap?

Its a problem - not if there is a fitting seal... Without seal, its like u say, water seeps in, possibly ruins motor. Got to do smtg; applying blk silicon from outside might loog bad, not last long: have to be opened and add silicon "all around sealing edges " and close. Or just get fitting part...

The driver's side has no gap. I took apart the old broken mirror and there is a gasket in there. I am going to put on black silicon seal.
