280zx cuts out when more than 1/2 throttle is applied.

My 280zx was running pretty decent last night but after about 2 hours of driving it around town, it would start to cut out if you would apply more than half-throttle. Now anytime i try to give it more than half throttle it will just bog down really bad and cut out. It has a little less than 1/4 tank of gas but i dont beileve that would be the problem would it? What would be causing my engine to act like this? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 280zx cuts out when more than 1/2 throttle is applied.

pfft clogged injectors, vacuum leak, bad fuel pressure regulator, tps, umm yah im sure all these will cause it its pretty much process of elimination start testing ...

hell it could even be plugs -- wires -- or your cap and rotor thats what i would check first mines doing the same thing on my audi and its my ignition wires causing the misfire under load ..

sucks because wires for that car i dound cheapest are $150 if i got them from audi or a couple other places its like $350..

My car was like this for a while. Change the plugs, rotor and wires and I bet you'll be better at least if not good as new.

sounds as though your maf sensor took a shit or a peice of gluge or debri isnt allowing thew flap to open allthough if that was the case it just woudnt seem to have power past the 1\2 throttle. id say mass air flow or a very bad leak of vaccumm after it, either way checvk the connections and wires and then ytou should be good to go

if your maf dies your ecu will limit you to 2k rpm, you'll know right away if it's that
