ciera 1990 stalls in wet weather

last night I was driving home & out of no where my car stalled..I had all my lights etc..but the car would not turn over..this happenes every time it wet out or misty...this has necer happened though..I can usually get it to start again..after 1/2 waiting for a tow truck I pumped the gas pedal & it started..ran it up a hill & when i was coming down it died again..tow came this am the garage called & said the car started fine & they couldn't work on it because they had nothing to go by..A friend said it was the spark plug wires & I should change them..also dry off the coils & spray w/silicone to waterproof them..They even tried placing a scew driver into the plug wire & putting it on metal & made me turn over the key..I had no spark last night...what do u think????? helpless in PA
