Need help with 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

I have a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2.8L engine and i just replaced the engine. The engine ran fine until i got ready to leave work, cranked the engine and put it in reverse and the car died. I cranked it again and it died. I finally got it home and it didn't cut off while driving or stopped at a light. Got up the next morning and the car wouldn't crank. No codes or check engine light. I did a diagnostic scan with a scan tool and all i got was a code 12. So the computer is ok being that it's new anyway. I have spark and compression and fuel pressure at 44 psi at the fuel rail. The engine wants to kickback and backfire while trying to crank it. I bought this engine from a co-workers friend in tennessee and he's been buolding engines for about 15 years plus my co-worker bought an engine from him and put it in his car about a year ago and it's running fine. I thought the timing chain had broken or it slipped a tooth, but he told me there is no way that it slipped a tooth. So he asked me to remove the timing cover and check and low and behold the timing chain is still intact and the timing marks line up perfectly. There is no way that thing culd jump a tooth without breaking that chain. I was told it sounds like the the car is having a problem with coil selection. I changed everything with OEM parts and everything is brand new on the the car. The crankshaft position sensor is working and i had the ignition module checked and it was fine. I am at a loss as to why the car won't start and wants to kickback and backfire. Any help would be greatly appreciated and i thank you in advance.

With a noid lite do you have pulse on the injectors, will it start spraying starter fluid in the intake? Spark at all 6 plugs, do you see cranking rpms on a scanner? Try disconnecting the maf see if it starts, also pcms unless new were very troublesome in those years.
