Re: More Power!!!!!!!

Don't expect much out of that 305 without some serious mods. You can do a cam/intake/exhaust mod on it where you can make it breathe better, and there are things that you can do to reduce internal friction - such as replacing the stock rockers with roller rockers (not aluminum but something like COMP Magnums).

I'd suggest, for your car, a Carter AFB/Edelbrock Performer carb (they're one and the same), an Edelbrock 3701 Performer EGR, a good torque cam such as a Crane H-278-2 , or a COMP XE 256 (ALWAYS replace your lifters with new ones when changing cams, ditto for valvesprings and timing set). These are good performance RV cams with the torque you need for a Caprice. Also, you can get by with a single exhaust with these mods, but I'd definitely upgrade the size of the pipe between the cat and the muffler.

Doing this should add about 20 HP and perhaps 40-60 ft. lbs torque and these numbers while not seeming like much, will have a BIG impact on how the engine "feels" in the car. It should put it right at or slightly higher than the factory stock 350 for that year.

Re: More Power!!!!!!!

A start would be to replace the 2bbl carb and intake with a 4bbl setup. You can go aftermartket, or get a stock 4bbl setup from another caprice. But all the mods above would really be a step up, and can definately be worth it.
