As my Bandai Bugatti Royale is nearing completion (just need to do the interior & then final assembly) my thoughts are turning to the next model. This is a good way to motivate me to hurry up & finish the Bugatti, as I've set myself a rule that I won't start work on a new kit until the previous one is finished. This also leaves me with just the following options for the next one:
1) Revell 1:8 Jag E Type - I have already made a start on it a few years ago, consisting of the engine & suspension but I've done nothing since. However it will need a large amount of scratchbuilding (some is structural) for me to be happy with the finished result. The headlamp surrounds are also slightly the wrong shape but sorting that minor detail depends on how brave I'm feeling!
My main concern is that the way the body is assembled - if the destructions are followed there will be an unsightly seam level with the top of the sills. To avoid this, the only option seems to be to install the interior structure first, assemble the main body components and then mask off the apertures before painting it. Fortunately it has opening doors (& by the time I've finished, probably also the rear hatch too) so access inside will still be ok to add the final interior parts & fit the glass - what does everyone else think of this idea, and for that matter, the project?
2) Heller 1:16 Citroen DS19 Decapotable (cabrio). I've done a trial fit of the major parts and all seems ok apart from some mild warping to the windscreen frame - what's the best way to sort this out? I don't want to rely on the screen to hold it in shape as that would risk breaking it & my scratchbuilding skills aren't up to remaking a screen...
Any comments / advice (especially from those who have built either of these models) will be much appreciated!
