bleeeding a steering gear box

what is the procedure to bleed a steering gear box? My fluid got low in the power steering pump and now it jumps and pulls to the right. I was told to check for air in system. I don't think my pitman arm is worn. It was working just fine up until my neglect on the power steering fluid. When I drive down the street it grabs and pulls to the right, then it corrects itself. wierd. thanks in advance.

What year? I have the 90 factory manuals which specifies the procedure as:
1) Jack up the front end so the wheels are off the ground
2) Fill the ps pump to the proper level.
3) Start the engine and slowly turn the wheel from lock to lock until all the air is out of the system
Note that I did 10 turns lock to lock, shut it down and checked the level, filling as necessary. If you see lots of bubbles, continue until they are gone.

I also have the 2000 manuals but have not read the bleed procedure in the 2000 manuals but I would assume that it is very similar.
