Exclamation 95 Impala Ss - Neutral Throttle "chug" Problem

I Took My 95 Impala Ss 5.7l Out Of Storage For The First Time Since October, And It Has A "chug" Issue. Seems Like It Is Not Getting Enough Fuel, Or A Misfire Problem. However, It Seems To Do It Mainly At Neutral Throttle, Not As Noticable On Accelleration. After About
30 Minutes Of Running, The Check Engine Light Turns On. Any Ideas What To Look At First???

P.s. - I Know Its An Impala, Not A Caprice. The Impala Forum Is Full Of The New, Weak 6 Cyl Cars.

Yeah, Poppa B, I do the same thing. I go to the "Impala" forum out of habit and think I'm going to find one of ours:

Unfortunately, you have one of those "'Tweeners" - Not really completely like the older OBD systems, and not quite OBD-II. Scanning for error codes is not easy no jumper wire tricks), but it's going to be the best route to determining the problem.

I've had my '94 come out of storage with a weak O², and had similar symptoms. I'm NOT saying that your problem is the same, but merely giving an example of what may be causing the symptoms. Oddly, I scanned the datastream, and by the time I did the O² was again active, and never caused another problem. I'm not certain if getting it out, driving it more, and thus burning off the sensors did it, or the fresh fill of low octane fuel to refresh the old fuel in the tank (lower octane is more volatile) solved the problem, but that was three storage seasons ago.

Good luck scanning the codes.

Re: 95 Impala Ss - Neutral Throttle "chug" Problem

Can you explain what you mean by "neutral throttle"? I haven't seen that term before.

If you are talking about a stumble off idle, I'd suggest take a look at the back side of the throttle plates. Probably a carbon build up there. A can of carb cleaner will fix it.

There are at least two other "Impala forums" that specialize in the 94-6 cars you had to try pretty hard to not find them since one of the is www.impalassforum.com that would be where to go for REAL TECH info. Then again it might lead to you spending thousands to go faster.
