door latch on tercel 91

as anny body ever replace a door latch on a 91 DX
i finaly manage to unlock the door after removing the interior panel, i can see the mecanical lock is brocken,, but cant seam to find a way to remove it, the windows is blocking me from releasing the outside door handle from th lock system

i woud apreciate to be able to lock and unlock this door,, look stupid went you get pull over and have to get out the passenger door

First you have to roll the window up. There are two 10 mm nuts holding the handle from inside the door. You will have to cut the plastic sheeting around one hole to see one of the nuts When you get those two removed you will have to wiggle the door handle around so you can take the two plastic holder clips and flip them up off the two rods that connect to the handle. One is for the door release and the other is for the lock. It is an easy job, you just have to look closely at it.
Good luck. I paid about $6.00 for a handle at a Pull-a-Part jnkyard.

Oh yeah, don't forget to change out the lock assembly, easy as well.
