Post 1994 Metro 3Cy 1.0Ltr

Hi folks, My name's Richard and I'm new to the forum and hoping you can help me make some decisions on this car. I bought it 2 years ago for $200 and sank $200 into it for brake work and drove it since. About 6 months ago I noticed I was losing alot of oil. Mileage on this car is about 199K so I'm guessing the rings are worn. Anyway to get to the point - the body is in great shape and everything else works well (so far) - should I just swap out the motor or is it time to let it go (as my wife is strongly suggesting)?

I live in Missouri, does anyone have any suggestions on where I can pick up a decently priced reliable motor?

Thanks.

Richard

Well if the body is in good condition get a JDM low mileage engine around $400 with 40 - 50K miles on it and enjoy another 100K or more out of your Geo it will be a wise economical decision to since inthe summer the price of gas is expected to jump to $3 or more.

I'm with Spy. With an engine hoist, swapping out the old motor to a JDM motor wouldn't take more than a weekend tops. With 2 people, just a day.

Re: 1994 Metro 3Cy 1.0Ltr

Many thanks. $400 is a whole lot reasonable than what I've been quoted.
I've call around to places like Rhinomotors and ATK and they're all asking for $1200 or more.

Can anyone recommend a specific company or website that deals with JDM's?

Thanks. I'll check them out later tonight. Really appreciate your input.

She's an automatic transmission so I'm limited on what the upgrades I can install but any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.
