Exclamation front wheels shake

i have camry 2000 4 cyl.
when above 100 kps, i press my breaks i feel that my front wheels are shaking and as soon as it drops to 60 - 70 kps this shaking stops.

i have it check already by they told me everything is fine(front wheel bearing is ok together with my rod ends.) my suspension system are OK.

please give me advise on what would be the probable cause.

need help.

thanks

Hello Niwre,
you might have lower ball joints that are worn and when you hit the brakes it seems like the front wheels are shaking. I have a 1989 Camry with over 180,000 miles on it and it still has the original ball joints on it. when I hit my brakes the front end of my car shakes like you describe. it also makes a bad clunking sound while shaking. I'm waiting for the warmer weather to get here (hopefully soon) when I'll get a better look to see whats going on under there.

Just a guess. good luck with your car.

Regards,
JOET/CAMRY

Re: front wheels shake

It sounds like one or both of the front brake rotors are warped. This usually happens over time due to the heat the rotors are subjected to. Have a good tech check the runout of the rotors with a dial indicator. If they are out of spec he can cut (turn) them, if there is enough meat (thickness) left on them, or replace them. Might as well check the front pads while he is at it. If there is half or less pad thickness left, he might as well replace them at the same time. You have paid for most of the labor with the rotors. If an honest tech does all this he will probably just charge you for a front brake job plus the cost of new front rotors, if that becomes necessary.

thank you for the replies.

in what joet said if my lower ball joint is the problem how come when i lift my car my wheel does not have any movement whatsoever. and it only shakes when i go above hundred and hit the breaks but if i am less 100 kph it doesnt shake.

accodingly the rotor shoud make a sound if i hit my breaks isnt it(correct me if im wrong). i hear no squeeching sound or any sound if i hit my breaks.
thaks you

Your brakes will not make a sound when braking, if the rotors are warped. You will just feel the vibration in the pedal and the steering wheel. Have it checked out by a professional.
