96 accent smell gas on start up

I have a 96 accent that now starts hard and has a strong gas smell after it starts. There or no codes and I already changed the plugs and wires. I was thinking the fuel pressure regulator would be next. It's also getting poor gas mileage. Any have any better ideas?

Re: 96 accent smell gas on start up

I've noticed a gas smell on startup of my 2003. Could just be me though.

check to make sure your injectors are in good shape and maybe pull them out and check the ring to see if its still in good shap.. where do you smell it from? under the hood or by the tank?

Its from under the hood. I'm going to work on it this weekend. If you pull out the injectors you have to replace the O-ring right? I know they sell them at autozone.

Checked it out this weekend it was the fuel pressure regulator. The thing was frozen 3/4 open.
