93 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6 Won't start, Fan on???
I have a 93 Ford Taurus with the 3.0 automatic trans and it was driving along one day and just quit. I have spark jumping 2.5-3 inches at the coil and popping really well from the disty wire to the disty when I take the wire off and check it. Also can see it jump the plug gap. The fuel pump is coming on but here is the problem:
The fuel pump stays on with the key in the on position and the cooling fan stays on as soon as the key is turned to the on position. Every once in a blue moon you can walk out and start her up for sometimes 3 seconds and sometime 3 minutes. Then poof, she will shut off and before the crank stops turning the fan has noticeably cam on and running full speed. Note, when it does start you can tell it will start as you turn the key on and the fuel pump comes on and goes off and then the fan is not on and wala! she starts right up only to shut off moments later and not to start again... ...this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks for any help or ideas you can give me. Frustrated in Augusta, GA! PS I had taken the distributor out to check timing (stupid) then reset it and spark timed it. Today it started and was running rough and I reached down to move the distributor to get it to run better and blam the fan kicked in on high and the motor shut off and wouldn't start back up..??? Please send responses to [email protected] as well. |

Your fuel pump running constantly sometimes, preventing a successful start has been posted by someone else fairly recently. Try performing a search on the forum and see if they found a solution for their problem.
Both the cooling fans and the fuel pump relays are controlled by the Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) mounted to the radiator support. You may have a bad ground to the CCRM. -Rod |

Great, I'll check out the other threads and look at the ground or replacment of the CCRM.
