Girl in distress!!

Hiya i have a stunning rover 214 but i have a problem that maybe one of u guys might be able to help me with?

Basically my problem is that my battery keeps going flat after around three or four days and i have no idea why. A couple of months back i decided to put my terminals on to my battery the wrong way round (dont ask!) but i ended up putting the pos on the neg and vice versa. I thought it may have fried my alternator as when i brought a new battery it wasnt keeping its charge for long so i went and got a new alternator and its still not keeping its charge. i use the car everyday if not every other day and its beginning to annoy me that it needs charging all the time!!

The only thing i can think of is that Im powering two 12" kenwood subs off of a JBL GT75.4 4 channel amp but i know the connections are fine i.e. remote as the amp switches off once the HU has been turned off. Ive seen so many other cars powering a lot more than i am but they dont have to charge their battery constantly!!

Im sorry this has become an essay but i really need help and suggestions as to what i can do and what may be the problem?!

Cheers in advance

Re: Girl in distress!!

I'd remove the battery and alt. and take them both to an auto parts store and have them test both of them to make sure that you didn't get a bad one when you replaced which can happen. If those all check good make sure that the head unit and amp turn themselves off when you turn off the ignition. If you have a capacitor installed for your system make sure it's not the kind that has the led display as that will slowly drain power too.

Re: Girl in distress!!

if you have hooked the battery up backwards and started the car .... you most likely have a bad cell in the battery (that means it's trashed). Autozone can check you battery and alternator while they are still in the car.
