Ive got a wrecked 89 supra turbo (motor, tranny, rearend still in great condition) and a 85 corolla LE with a blown motor. With some major modifications, would it be possible to shove the supra motor into the corolla? any help would be great

Anythings possible with time and money. Why not just pick up another supra shell though and drop the engine in that?

Why does everyone say that? You seem to discount skill. You don't need money if you have some talent and tools.

Everyone says it because it's true. Even with talent/skill you still need money. Even if you do all of the work yourself you still need funds for materials, supplies, and all of the little parts that pop up during the coarse of a project.

If you do it yourself it is more of a time thing than a money thing. It strikes me that people assume that the car will go into a shop. Which is a fiar assumption because most posts like this are from clueless people. Those that have the skills needed tend to jsut go out and do it.

Woah guys, no need to start an argument. I just wanted to know. im ok with a welder, i got a buddy whos REAL good with one. the reason im asking is because i think it would be awesome to have a corolla that can eat cobras and 350z's. I found a twin turbo kit online for the motor that would signifigantly boost the HP up. any more help would be good, thanks

If you can do your own fab work then it is more than possible. The easy way would be to use the front and rear cross members from the Supra and attach them to a square tube subframe. The front cross member incorporates the steereing, suspensoin, and motor mounts all in one nice neat package. The rear one incoroprates the rear diff and suspension mounts. It is just a matter of adapting them to fit the body. Some firewall trimming will have to happen.

You should cut out the rocker pannels and run some tube through there to link the front and rear of the car to stiffen it up a bit. Then you may as well cage it so you can run in the 10s without running into safty rules at the track.

I can't say. I have to see the project as it is being built. You are going to have to come up with your own design. Always use structural steel, molly is preferable to mild. I would use a minimum .120 wall thickness on the tube. I wouldn't go much smaller than 1 1/2 diamater. You could build a lot of it out of round tube. The round will be easier to bend. I would use square tube for parts that will have mount points because it will give you a nice flat mating surface. This is the really important part, be sure to level your project on jack stands. If you do not level the project and your subframes are off then the car will drive crooked down the road.
