96 accent scaner port

I have a code on my 96 accent but I couldn't find the port under the dash for the computer scaner. Anyone know where to look for it?

Its by the instrument dimmer, top part. Located to the left of steering column.

Found it but my buddys scanner won't talk to the car. It's a snap-on brand computer I don't know why but it says " communication".

did you have the car turned on? or just have the key on?
