Why should I go no lower than these settings? Is there a way around this?

Will it damage the shocks or springs or car? If it will damage the spring, what type of spring should I get to go all the way down?

Is "firmer" better?

And does the 4 and 8 pos. have different names?

I did search (in here and in club 3g) but these questions are original, and were not found!

let me give this a try...

1-4 and 1-8 are settings on shocks

stock shocks are at1... i think...

4 and 8 being the stiffest within their realm

now, if you took a spring designed for 2 and harder on a 1 level shock, then you will bottom out on a hard bump. bottoming out is very hard on the parts in your car, and your suspension because it is an immediate stop of any upward and downward motion.

firmer can be better but you will feel the road more, and it may not be good for the road you are on, say if it is a very bumpy road, you would be more likely to lose control on a 4 or 8 setting than if you were at a 1 setting, but you wouldn't want a 1 setting b/c then you would bottom out.

does that make any sense? springs and shocks is a science to find the right balance b/t stiffness and handling that will give you excellent ride quality and performance.

i wanted to get the KYB AGX/ Eibach pro-series spings really soon. i wanted to get the firmest ride i can get with AGX struts even if that means getting different springs. well maybe not THE firmest, but a really really firm ride. i was looking at the JIC FLT-A2 but there $2000, i wanted close to this in suspension firmness.

all i wanted was the 223% stiffer ride. but not damage anything.

it says not to go past 2 and 4. i want to know why.

is it that its bad for the struts to go to 4 and 8? or is it bad for the springs?

It probably isnt that its bad for the spring/strut, its that the ride may be so stiff that it might damage critical driveline/wheel hub parts. Think about it. If something has very little give where it is supposed to, and that is the only reinforced part, it will give somewhere else. And honestly, why do you want your car to ride like shit all the time. At the track maybe, but on the street...come on, dont kid yourself.

i guess your right man, it's just not very pratical or good for the car. i guess i'll get the agx and the pro-line. well where i live there are really really good streets and roads there won't be that much stress.

my friend ran his on 4 the enitre time with no problems (note:he also track raced it )
every thing was stock other than hi clutch intake exhaust and suspention so keeping it at the stiffist ist a problem as for our car though they only make the 4way for it not the 8.
agx's will work with ALL springs (if they are factory replacments,ie:will fit on the stock struts.)

thats alright about the 8 pos. one not being made for out cars. setting 4 and 8 are the same percentage (%223 stiffer). and i even have the fact that i have really good streets on my side. there was a guy on club 3g with the 8 pos. agx... if i recall. sooo good streets = good ride.
