87 Pulsar NX clutch problem?

hey all, ive been looking into buying a pulsar as a second car and for the gas mileage, i found a 87 NX, not sure of what motor it has(1.6, 2.0 maybe?), it has a 5 speed manual trans with a ticking noise coming from the transmission i believe, when the clutch pedal is pushed down the noise goes away and when you let the pedal back up the noise comes back. Can anyone relate to this problem or tell me what it is? cheap or expensive fix. also it leaks coolant from the radiator, drips oil(not sure where from), and the gas and temp. guage arent working. It has 145,000 miles. I havent bought it yet, he's asking $1300. Please anyone help me with your input, i want the car, but i cant afford any big fixes.
thanks, adam

Re: 87 Pulsar NX clutch problem?

The noise when you step on the clutch and release the clutch sounds like it may be the pilot bearing. Witch you would have to remove the trans to replace. The Gas and Temp guage is easy , it's a reistor on the back of your instument cluster . It has 3 wires Blue Yellow and Black if i remember correctly.. GL
