klunk when starting.

any1 know what might make a large kluking noilse like something is hitting an empty oil pan. i was just starting it and i heard a loud bang. i took it uup to my mechanic and told him what it might have been and he looked at it looked fine. i drove it after noise then got home open engine and their was smoke coming from the radiator.

Check for a bad transmission mount or motor mount. Usually a good indication that one or the other is going bad.

do u know where the most likely spots the engine and tranmission mounts might be located?

Sorry, on a 4 cyl I am not certain. For the transmission check underneath the chassis. You should see it pretty easily where it connects to the frame.

i looked at the engine mounts they look good but didnt chack the trany mounts. yers it is the same mechanic i bought the car from. after it happened and i had him look at it, I drove to another city like 40 miles away and it ran fine. im thinking it has something to do with the engien casue i took my cover off right above the temp sensor and found that the anti-freeze was low in their
