2002 Jeep Liberty Ltd tow capacity
How can I tell what the tow capacity is? I purchased it second hand and never got the full info.

Uh...The 5000lb tow weight only applies if the Jeep has the FACTORY installed tow package. If it has one put on after the fact, the tow rating is 2000lbs.
The rating is the MAX tow rating (includes 150lb for driver). To calculate the actuall tow capacity you must deduct all of the additional weight you put in the Jeep besides the driver. Add another three passengers at 150lbs each and 100lbs worth of stuff and you can only tow (2000-550) 1450lbs. |
