brake problem

I have a 2000 honda accord coupe, the drivers side axle was just replaced and now my brake goes all the way to the floor if you brake while turning. The brakes are fine when you are going straight. Does anyone know why this would happen or does anyone know how to fix it??

Re: brake problem

Not sure, but it'd scare the bejasus out of me if that happened. It sounds as if the axle job was screwed up (though I can't imagine exactly how) - take it back before you die.

Re: brake problem

Something is horribly wrong there. Don't drive it. The bearing is drifting, pushing the piston back in the caliper. The rotors are difficult to remove on the Accords, and if you don't do it right, you can really screw things up.

You may end up loosing a wheel if you continue to drive it that way...

Re: brake problem

unlike what jeff said. The 2000 accords have screw on stlye rotors and they come off in 2 seconds so im ruling that out. If you say all that was done was an axle than the only thing that comes to mind is the fork on the end of the strut is backwards. Some peolpe remove it to make more room to get the axle out. It has a curve to it and i believe it should be on the back side. If its reversed what may be happening is when you turn the wheel the caliper is hitting the fork. This pushes the piston in and then the pedal goes soft. Basically it now needs to be pumped a few time to get a full pedal again.

My buddy had a Nissan truck that we lowered and the caliper was hitting the lower control arm causing the same problem. We actually had to limit the amount the wheel turned to stop it. I guess thats the price you pay to have a truck that drags frame on the ground.

Anyway have it looked at. Pay attention to the fork and please let us know. Im curious on this one.
