Blown Fuel Injector
OK more help is needed for me on my 1994 Jeep GCL 5.2 liter V-8 Automatic. I was driving to work today and I smelled gas. I pulled over and found that fuel was blowing out of the fuel injector on the drivers side front cylinder. Gas was pouring out of the top and side where it looks like a relief hole is on the side.
My question: The manual sounds straight and forward about changing the injector. My question/quetions are when I remove the fuel rack with the injectors on it should I change all the O-Rings on all four injectors top and bottom and should I put vasoline or something on the rings to get them to seat in the fuel rack and head when I install them back in? The manual does not state any of this. They say just put them in. Any suggestions would be appreciated or help would be appreciated..........MURPHY's LAW AT WORK AGAIN........... Re: Blown Fuel Injector
That same exact thing happened to my jeep as well, same injector too!! The fuel rail is easy enough to get off, only held down with a couple of bolts.I pulled it up, it might require a little force to get the rail off the injectors. Just pull out the bad injector and make sure BOTH o-rings are attached, or fish them out. I put a little motor oil on the o-rings ( I wouldn't use vaseline) just enough to give it a little lubrication. Push the new injector into the intake firmly and then position the rail back on top of the injectors, making sure all of the o-rings are in place on all of the injectors.. Then push the rail down firmly. I had to get up on my knees on the radiator to put enough presssure on the rail to get it to seat on the injectors. After it is firmly on then start the truck and check for leaks. Any leakage would mean an improperly seated o-ring. I didn't replace any of the other o-rings , just make sure that they are all on top of the injectors before you put the rail back on.

Re: Blown Fuel Injector
basically that is right except for one thing.Put the injector in the fuel rail first and make sure the clip locks in.its a lot easier than trying to pull it up into the rail when its in the manifold. And engine oil is the thing to use to lube the o-rings.

Re: Blown Fuel Injector
Thanks to all for the help on my fuel injector replacement. I picked up the part today which cost $89.99 PART # FJ214 for Autobarn and a kit of extra o-rings for $1.49 ( 4 each ). My Jeep offered two different type of injectors. Of course mine was the expensive one. The cheaper one was only $59.99. I had to get the number off the old one to get the proper one. It took me about 45 minutes to complete the installation. I had to fish the o-ring for the top of the old injector out of the fuel rack before installing the new injector. Put a small amount of silicon lube on the o-rings to install back in. I also changed the bottom o-rings from the other three injectors on the rack before installing. It was not too hard to put the rail back in with the lube. Started the Jeep up and no leaks......Runs great once again. Like I said to everybody........Many thanks....
