'99 Sunfire GT questions
1999 2.4L dohc My brother abused this car and now the engine has a huge knock. My mom has acquired this car now im partly in charge of fixing this. first off. i'm trying to get to the intake camshaft to try and locate the knock the manual i have doesnt offer much help...1: do you have to take the timing chain housing off to get the cam cover off?? 2: it looks like to me that to get the timing chain housing off you have to remove the engine cause there is no way to get those bolts off in the car. 3: the book says you have to drop the engine out the bottom, it looks that way to me too..but to verify is this so? 4: if this engine is destroyed, and we have to put a new engine in it. the 2.2L is more available than the 2.4. so what would it take to put the 2.2L in place of the 2.4L i know it will drop in there but will you need a new ecm? wiring harness? what else? while taking this apart i'll be in here alot more.. i'm sure i'll have more questions later... im much familiar with RWD small block's
