I just got a new 2005 LS V8 Ultimate. Every morning when I start it up, it makes a really bad knocking / metal rattling noise coming from the inside of the engine.
This knocking is present for less than 30sec but it sounds really bad. I have asked the dealer about it and they say it is because in the morning the oil has drained to the bottom of the engine and that I should not worry about it.
I am concerned about this and it is very hard to duplicate for the dealer because it only happens when the care is sitting for 8+ hours and you start it up.
Anyone have a similar experience? Would love to hear if there is a fix for this.

There are many different noises that you could be hearing, but this is normal under some cold-start conditions. I have a 2002 LSE and I have a pretty loud tap when I start it in the morn. In my case it is the fuel injectors warming up. Fuel injectors can be loud when they are aging, but with a car as new as yours, this is unlikely. You might have a defective fuel injector that is starting to act up. As far as the oil being drained, with such a new car this shouldn't be a problem unless there is some other problem developing. In any case if you are hearing a hard knock I would have it checked out. All you have to do is drop the car off at the dealer the night before, and have him start it up when he comes in the next morn. Don't know if they will charge you for this, but I'm assuming you're still under warranty. In this case I definitely wouldn't put up with any sounds whatsoever. Unfortunately I have to put up with my morning noises untill I have some more $$.
