Question 99 grand am gt?

hello all im looking at buying a used 99 grand am for my daughter what im looking for is anything i should be wary of on this model of car it has a 3.4l in it and seems to run very good. i know that there was an intake gasket issue with the 3.4and am a little leary about it. also the car runs what seems to be a little hot to me but not sure (200f) if thats normal temp or not. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: 99 grand am gt?

I have a 99 GA GT and right around 200 is about right. I have had the car since new and have 137,000 on it right now.

Re: 99 grand am gt?

sometimes they run a little hot. Could be a bad thermostat or it needs a good flushing of the system.

You'll usualy know if the intakes leaking.
Thier will be chocolate or whitish stuff in the oil.

There was also a known issue with the lifters. You can go to a dealer with the VIN and ask for a warranty service record.
