Window Power Switch Problem in 63 'Continental

Hi, new to the forum but I look forward to being an active member here. I have a question about the window switches on my '63 Continental.

I just got it out of the shop today after repairs on all window switches/motors. I get to the shop and test all switches - driver side master switches and the switches by each door. Switch by switch, I make sure the window goes the all the way down and comes all the way up. They all work and I leave the shop.

I was actually on my way to the DMV for an inspection. Since I know they'll be testing the windows, I lower them one last time using the driver side master panel. I lower the driver side window and leave it down. I do the same with the passenger side front window. Then I begin to lower the rear windows simultaneously. The rear left window lowers completely. The rear right window lowers about 95% of the way and stops.

After that none of the switches worked and the windows are are lowered. Any idea what happened??? Any and all help appreciated. This is my first car and being an older car, there's a lot I have to learn and want to learn about it.

I'm far from being an expert on 1963, but it sounds like someone has the wrong amperage fuse in the power window slot, and it blew.

There's another BB that serves the older Lincolns only, you may want to give those folks a holler too.

Seems to me the weather strips are stiff and thift which is causing the motor to work extra hard and overheat (shuts down). If that's the case, you can expect to burn fuses now and then. Try cleaning the weatherstrips with silicone (available liquid and spray), that might loosen the rubber and make it easier to work. Also grease up the window chanels in the doors; grease hardens overtime and that might be the only problem with your window...(ford uses plastic knobs in those chanels which strip away lubricant over time as well). Try using one switch at a time, those old motor draw quite a bit of juice. Good luck.
